 About Shelter Movers
Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charity providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people (primarily women and children) as they transition to a life free of violence. Since 2016, we have completed over 7,000 moves.

About the role
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Associate Director is an integral member of the fundraising team, helping to achieve or exceed our national revenue target. The successful candidate will be responsible for carefully maintaining a portfolio of major gifts and annual donors, with a focus on building lasting relationships. 
We are looking for a results-driven individual who will help grow our current base of supporters to scale our operations; someone who is ready to take the next step in their career where they can have tremendous impact in an organization with a wealth of untapped potential.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to create and implement fundraising strategies specific to donor bases in Vancouver, Calgary & Edmonton
  • Establish strong relationships and collaborate with local Chapter Directors to understand and convey local need and impact 
  • Achieve annual goals through identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporate, foundation, and individual gifts
  • Prepare regular reports on progress, challenges & opportunities 
  • Lead development & execution of national campaigns including Giving Tuesday & key holidays
  • Manage a pool of volunteers who support fundraising efforts across the organization

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English are required; bi-lingual in french is an asset
  • At least 5 years of proven success in a charitable fundraising environment
  • Experience soliciting gifts in the six-figure range
  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven success in relationship building and the ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, MailChimp, Canva, CanadaHelps, Zoom and donor management software is a plus
  • Understanding and/or interest in gender based violence, including anti-racist, anti-oppressive frameworks and intersectionality of challenges faced by women and particularly survivors of abuse
  • Flexible, results and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth
 
Additional considerations 
  • Job Type: 35 hours per week 
  • Salary Range: $85,000-95,000 per year
  • Location: Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton
  • Type: Day-to-day work is completed remotely, with travel between chapters as required

Compensation

$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
